I chose my fire project topic of water contamination because I learned about this topic during my junior year of high school. I never knew water contamination was a big concerning issue before I took Environmental Science that was taught by Mr. Segura. I was intrigued about the topic by learning about places such as Crestwood that experienced water contamination. Also I was more interested in the topic by doing assignments that consisted of experiments and lab reports. One of the reasons why I was interested in the topic was because I enjoyed doing the experiments in class.
In doing the fire project I struggled with time management. Right before I only focused in this project I had no internet access, I had to find a different way to work on my project. Not only that I was working so it took time off weekends, and school nights to work on the project. Also to add on, I recently moved out of the neighborhood and had focus on moving things into my new home before the month was over thus taking more time out to work on my project. I the only way I would have the maximum time to work on my project was during school and after school. I would stay to do my work, trying to finish sections before I went home.
Advice I would give to the underclassmen about this project is that the project is not hard it's just time consuming. You need a lot of time to gather evidence and connect it to show the viewpoint of your topic. Once the teachers introduce fire project, start doing it right away and don't wait until the last minute to do this project. It will affect you if you wait until the last minute. Over the years the teachers prepare you to write papers, and essays. Once you get to the fire project it will be a routine to write in specific structure. Last but not least pick a topic that really interest you and you'll be passionate to present to other people.
